Veterinarians
Dr. Lora Evans, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Lora Evans grew up in Salisbury, NC, where she attended West Rowan High School and graduated 1st in her class while enjoying all-conference success with the basketball and tennis teams. She went on to major in zoology at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she played on the varsity tennis team. After graduating from veterinary school at NCSU, she became the veterinarian and owner of Boulevard Animal Hospital. During her studies, Lora was fortunate to have Dr. Dan Allen and Dr. Les Tremaine, two excellent diagnostics surgeons, mentor her in the science of veterinary medicine and she aspires to channel their charm and professional attitude towards her veterinary duties. Her vision when starting North Hills Animal Hospital was to provide outstanding personalized care and services in a luxurious facility that is designed to make your beloved pets feel at home.
At last count, Dr. Evans had four dogs: Logan, Lydia, Juan Pablo Montoya, and William. She enjoys basketball, cycling, gardening, and tennis.
Dr. Stacy Amelio, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Stacy Amelio is originally from Chicago and moved to Raleigh to attend North Carolina State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science and then her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Amelio enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but has a special interest in surgery and preventative care. Her goal as a doctor is to strengthen the human/animal bond, practice excellent medicine, and connect with her patients and clients to help meet both of their needs. She strives to provide exceptional care and is continuously updating her knowledge by attending conferences and continuing education meetings.
When not at work, Dr. Amelio enjoys volunteering, the outdoors, dog training, bird watching, rock climbing, playing with her pets, and board games. Her pets include dogs, cats, parrots, a sulcata tortoise, and sugar gliders.
Dr. Kelly Stephan, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Kelly Stephan joined our team in August 2022. She is a native of New Jersey where she has been practicing as a small animal veterinarian for the past 17 years. She had spent the last two years at Plumsted Animal Hospital and fifteen years prior at Columbus Central Veterinary Hospital. She has experience in routine wellness care, surgery, and emergency medicine. She graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2005. Her main interests include wellness and preventative medicine and soft tissue surgery.
Ever since she was a little girl, her dream has always been to be a veterinarian. She started out volunteering to clean cages at a veterinary hospital and, with hard work and training, became a veterinary technician. She graduated from Georgian Court University in 2000 with a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Biology. She worked summers and weekends as a veterinary technician during college as an undergraduate until she was accepted into the veterinary program at Mississippi State University.
Patient care and comfort are of the utmost importance to Dr. Stephan. Her goal is to provide the best care to her patients along with building a close bond with her clients. When she is not working, she enjoys being a mother to her son, Bret, and spending time with her family, her three dogs, and her two cats. She is very excited to join the team at North Hills Animal Hospital and is thrilled to explore and make new roots in North Carolina.
Dr. Amy Neligon, DVM
Dr. Amy Neligon earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University, graduating magna cum laude. With over 20 years of veterinary medicine experience, she brings to our practice expertise in internal medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery. She is a USDA-accredited veterinarian, a member of both the American Veterinary Medical Association, the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, and was recognized as an Honorary Member of the Durham Highway Fire Department for her care of their service dog, Angus.
Dr. Neligon’s passion for animals began early, growing up in a home with pets ranging from dogs and cats to guinea pigs, turtles, and crayfish—a foundation that shaped her commitment to treating every patient like family.
Outside the clinic, she enjoys life with her husband, three children, Willow the rescued Siamese cat, Brady the chihuahua-poodle mix, and an aquarium of snails, cherry shrimp, and a Betta fish. She spends her free time gardening, reading thrillers, and cheering on her kids at sports events.

Kelsie
Groomer
Kelsie has been grooming dogs for four years and loves working with dogs! She has two dogs, Luna and Ahriman-Sasuke, and participates in dog sports (agility and urban mushing) in her free time. She can often be found hiking with her pups or reading a book with a cat in her lap. She loves working with fur babies to make the grooming experience less frightening, striving to make it as fun and stress-free as possible.
